The Just Shall Live By Faith Framed Poster

In [the gospel] the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, ‘the just shall live by faith.’ – Romans 1:17

This is the primary verse that converted Martin Luther. He uncovered the true meaning of the Greek word dikaios—that there is a righteousness that is by faith alone. He began to understand that Paul was not talking about the righteousness by which God Himself is righteous, but rather a righteousness that God gives freely by His grace to people who don’t have righteousness of their own—and those that receive it by faith can be reconciled to a holy and righteous God.
